Manager Neil Aspin is hoping to get duo Gavin Gunning and Ben Whitfield tied down to longer deals.
26 year-old Gunning joined the club in the summer and initially signed a short-term deal until the New Year but has forged a place as regular first-choice left-back under Aspin.
So, that would be a positive step if we can make ground on that…
21 year-old Loanee Whitfield has been a creative spark in the side and Vale will be desperate to extend his loan deal from Bournemouth.
Commenting on Whitfield Aspin told the media: “I know that Bournemouth have a meeting this week and we should get a decision on that by the end of the week. So, that would be a positive step if we can make ground on that.”
On Gunning Aspin added: “He is a player that I would like to keep at the club for longer. The chairman has been away for a couple of weeks but he is back on Thursday so that needs to be sorted out because he has done well for me since I have been at the club.”
Vale are set for a busy January transfer window as Aspin bids to build a squad capable of securing League Two safety.
