Exiles fan SOUTHERNFAN tells us that he thinks his side have a chance of making the League Two play-offs this season…
We are a totally different outfit this season to that just surviving in the Football League last season…

About the fan – SOUTHERNFAN
I have supported County since my Dad carried me over Somerton Park before I could walk, I’m now an Exile, (County’s nickname is “The Exiles”, and those that live away from Newport (& there are many) are self-proclaimed Exiles…
How will Newport do this season?
We are a totally different outfit this season to that just surviving in the Football League last season. We will be on the verge of the play-offs, I suspect.
How is the manager doing, any danger players?
Mike Flynn has shown that if you have true passion for a club (he’s Newport through and through) then with man-management even inexperience can be overcome with the players committed behind you, He has filled a couple of holes with the quality we can afford, Frank Nouble is a livewire!
How are the board doing?
It’s a bit strange presently. On the face of it the board are doing well, but as a fans’ owned club we are told absolutely nothing. Fans put in £285,000 to save the club and deserve better communication.

Any memories of previous games with Vale?
I remember back in the 80’s when we needed to win at Vale Park for a record number of away wins, but it was a boring 1-1 game.
A score prediction and attendance?
2-0 to Newport. We have a good selection of strikers who know where the goal is such as McCoulsky and Amond.
Any recommendations for visiting fans?
The Queens Hotel in town (Now a Whetherspoons) is exclusively for away supporters, there is a bar in the away end I believe. There are car parks in town but street parking near the ground is limited as its the town centre.
