Caretaker Kelly: for the good of Port Vale the quicker the decision the better
Joint caretaker manager David Kelly says that a quick decision on the club’s new manager is needed to give everyone “clarity.”
Vale slipped to a poor away defeat to Stevenage on Saturday.
There’s got to be clarity for everybody. For the good of Port Vale, the quicker the decision the better. The club needs a lift…
Afterwards, Kelly told the media: Confidence is very low after that result. Regardless of whoever is in charge of the football club going forward, the players have got to get themselves out of the situation.
“They’ve got to stand up and be counted. They need to come together for the good of the club. There’s a negativity around the club and the new manager has to lift that.
“There’s got to be clarity for everybody. For the good of Port Vale, the quicker the decision the better. The club needs a lift, especially after that performance, because it wasn’t good enough.
“Defensively we gave away two very poor goals. Their first came from an area where we think we should do better at keeping the ball and they break on us.
“I’m not sure whether the second was a cross or not, but I’ll give the kid credit if he has picked that out as it’s a good finish.”
