Port Vale captain Anthony Kay says Vale fans were brilliant on Saturday and it is only “fine margins” that are keeping the side from a first home win.
Kay told the Sentinel: “I think the performance was there on Saturday but it is little fine margins and things not dropping for us at the end.
I thought the fans on Saturday were brilliant, the best they have been all season. They were with us…
“This week is going to be tough, we are all going to grind it out during the week and we need to get that win for the fans.
“I thought the fans on Saturday were brilliant, the best they have been all season. They were with us. We know as players we haven’t been there and they have been disappointed.
“You can understand that, we just want to get them on our side. We did that on Saturday and hopefully against Cheltenham we can get the win.
“I am a believer that you make your own luck in life and, if we carry on playing like we are doing and the gaffer instils that work ethic, then it is going to turn around.”
