Supporters Club appoint Mark Porter as chair with Malcolm Hirst as deputy
Former vice chairman Mark Porter has been confirmed as the new chairman of the Supporters Club taking over from Ally Simcock.
Porter will be well known to many Vale fans and has been prominent in re-establishing links to the club through CEO Colin Garlick, talks that have resulted in reduced ticket prices and longer season ticket deadlines thanks to dialogue with fans.
Porter was elected chairman at Wednesday night’s EGM.
OVF columnist and member of the North London Valiants, Malcolm Hirst, has been appointed vice chairman.
John King was elected secretary, Phil Potts as treasurer, and Gary Gratton, Dean Jones and Paul Dixon were also elected to the committee.
The meeting also featured an appearance by Carol Shanahan, managing director of Synectics Solutions who has become acting chairwoman of Vale’s community scheme, the Port Vale Foundation Trust. Tributes were also paid to Liz Williams, a driving force of the Supporters Club during the club’s administration period, and who sadly recently passed away.
