Striker Tyrone Barnett set to return to action
Manager Michael Brown says that new signing Tyrone Barnett may play in Vale’s friendly game against Derby County.
Barnett has missed the last two friendly games after suffering a hamstring injury in the opening fixture against Kidsgrove.
The former Wimbledon striker scored twice in the opening stages against Kidsgrove before picking up the injury and Vale will hope the experienced forward will add cover and competition.
Youngster Dan Turner was rested against Buxton while Anton Forrester is still some weeks away from playing which left Vale with just Tom Pope and loanee Rekeil Pyke upfront on Saturday.
Brown told the Sentinel: “Ideally, Tyrone might be able to play a little part of it on Tuesday, and maybe Dan Turner, so that is the four strikers. Anton is still maybe a couple of weeks away which will make a difference.”
