Media: Vale don’t trust Rangers over Alnwick transfer fee
The Daily Record claims there is “continued friction” between Glasgow Rangers and Port Vale over the proposed transfer fee for goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.
Last week, the Valiants confirmed that they had received an approach for Alnwick and it was reported that Rangers had made a £250,000 bid. However, chairman Norman Smurthwaite told STV that the terms of the deal were not acceptable.
We don’t trust Rangers to pay the money so that money has to be received before we will cancel the contract…
Now, the Daily Record claims that there was “continued friction” between the two sides as Vale are fearful that the Scottish club’s recent financial woes could make paying in installments a risk.
The newspaper quotes an unnamed Vale “source” as saying: “We don’t trust Rangers to pay the money so that money has to be received before we will cancel the contract.
“Unless we have the money in our bank, we won’t press that button.”
