Duo join on trial as goalkeeper Santos departs
Port Vale have confirmed that duo Chris Eagles and Tom Hitchcock are on trial with the club and that goalkeeper Miguel Santos has left by mutual consent.
The departure of Santos is somewhat surprising as he was expected to be named in goal following the injury to Jak Alnwick. Fortunately, Vale are well-stocked with goalkeepers with Ryan Boot able to deputise and Harry Pickering also on the books.
Eagles and Hitchcock will play for the Vale reserve team against Bradford City.
Striker Hitchcock is the son of former Chelsea goalkeeper Kevin Hitchcock and has had spells with Rotherham United, Crewe and most recently Milton Keynes. The 24 year-old is currently a free agent.
Experienced winger Chris Eagles played for Burnley and Bolton and like Hitchcock the 31 year-old is also a free agent after having a brief spell with Accrington earlier this season.
Goalkeeper Santos departs after making just three appearances for the Valiants.
