Ribeiro: Kiko just needed time
Port Vale manager Bruno Ribeiro said that left-back Kiko is a good player but just needed time to adjust to the English game.
The left-back put on a man of the match display against Hartlepool United after a slow start to his Vale career.
Ribeiro told the Sentinel: “He was a player that needed time because he is still young, at 23. He needed time and now he is ready to play.”
It is not the first time that Ribeiro has mentioned that the overseas signings needed time to adapt. Last week, the Vale manager said that Sebastien Amoros was “still learning the English game” and in November he told the media that “new players need time to adjust to English football.”
It is to be expected that the new arrivals will take time to adapt but with Kiko joining Rigino Cicilia, Anthony De Freitas and Amoros in showing promise, fans can be reasonably optimistic for the future at Vale Park.
