Fleetwood fan: the football is better this season
Neil is confident of a solid but not spectacular season for the Trawlermen (don’t call them “Cod army”)…
Thanks to REP for posing the questions
About the fan…
I’m Neil Buston. I’m 51 year old. I first went to a couple of games with my Dad when younger. I started watching Fleetwood properly when we reformed in 1997. I became a season ticket holder then and I’m still one now. I’ve not missed a game in ten years home or away and only missed a handful in the last twelve years.
About the opposition…
How do you expect your team to do this season?
I expect a mid-table finish after last year’s flirt with relegation.
What are your thoughts on the manager and his signings?
The manager hasn’t had a pre-season or a proper market to sign players yet, the football is usually better than the last two seasons. Chris Long and Kyle Dempsey are great players while David Ball and Ash Hunter are popping the goals in.
Your thoughts on the board?
The chairman (being a football fan himself) puts fans first and the new training ground is spectacular.
A score prediction and predicted away following?
Our away following is still poor so 200 away fans and a 3-1 win to Fleetwood… I hope!
A guide for Vale fans…
Can you tell us something about your side we may not know?
The fans are the ‘cod army’ not the team as these lazy press have been reporting. The team’s nickname is the Fishermen or Trawlermen. Although we play in nearly the same colours as Arsenal, the Highbury Stadium is named after the street alongside it (Highbury Avenue).
What about a recommended blog or forum?
We had two or three fans forums, but everybody is on Facebook & Twitter now and the CodArmy forum is very quiet.
