This is the programme for the first-ever clash between the two sides. It was an FA first-round game in 1965. According to reports it was a thiller with Jimmy Hill (no, not that one) Vale’s star man in a 2-2 draw. The Valiants goalscorers were Roy Sproson and John Cummings. The crowd was 10,355.
The replay wasn’t bad either with Vale coming out on top in a five goal thriller. On that occasion the scorers were Taylor, Mudie and Hill in front of a crowd of 7,510.

Team news
Vale are waiting on the fitness of Sam Foley (above) while there will also be some debate about the best combination upfront. Martin Paterson was substituted at half-time on Tuesday and could face competition from the likes of Rigino Cicilia while Sam Kelly could come in if Alex Jones takes a central role.
Joint captain Ben Purkiss missed the game against Charlton and many fans will be interested to see if he is included on Saturday.
Last time we met…
The Valiants lost 2-1 at Oxford in March of this year. In the home fixture, Vale won 3-0 thanks to goals from Tom Pope, Ashley Vincent and Sam Morsy.
