Sam Foley says Port Vale were complacent
Midfielder Sam Foley says the Valiants were a “bit naïve” and had a “bit of complacency” after they were hammered 4-0 by Sheffield United at the weekend.
Foley told the media: “I think we were a bit naïve coming here. A lot of players haven’t played here and maybe after last week there was a bit of complacency coming in and thinking we did such a good job at MK Dons that maybe it was going to be a similar job, and an easy job.
I think we were a bit naïve coming here. A lot of players haven’t played here and maybe after last week there was a bit of complacency coming in…
“It never is. We got hit with two massive sledgehammers early on with set pieces which you should really deal with. We didn’t play our game in the first half, we gave it a little go in the second-half but again we shot ourselves in the foot from our own set piece.
“There are ups and downs in football, during a game and during a season. This is just one of them.
“You have to get out of those troughs to have those peaks as they say, and we will just have to bounce and show some character.”
