Sam Foley: injuries haven’t helped but we need to bounce back
Midfielder Sam Foley says it’s been “difficult” after key injuries in central midfield but he is hopeful that the side can “bounce back” against Peterborough United.
Vale lost midfield duo Anthony Grant and Paulo Tavares for the Bury defeat and Foley told the official website: “It’s difficult when players are coming in and out when the team is settled for three weeks like it had been and I thought we looked a very good side.
I think we need to bounce back with a positive result…”Then you lose a couple and a couple come in and nothing against them but it’s difficult to come in and play and especially when some lads have never played at this level or in this country. All you can ask for is commitment and attitude and everyone is throughout the whole squad and hopefully everyone can stay fit and keep fighting.”
Foley is hoping that a run of form will allow Vale to continue their early season momentum and he added: “I think we need to bounce back with a positive result and we need to get back to basics like we have done this week in training and prepare for the game.
“They’ve got a young side and they have a lot of energy and look to play football and I think it might suit us there, because will be a lot of space on the pitch and were looking forward to it.
“We had a decent little run which put us up there and we’re still in a good position and it’s a massive positive to be there and if we go on a run it will hopefully propel us for the rest of the season.”
