Port Vale sign Birmingham City striker on loan
Port Vale have announced the signing of young Birmingham City striker Alex Jones on loan until January.
A press release states:
Birmingham City striker Alex Jones has today joined Port Vale on loan until January and the 21-year-old will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s home game against Southend United.
Formerly with West Bromwich Albion, he joined Blues on a two-year deal, plus a one-year option, following a successful trial period at the club.
A product of the Baggies Academy, Jones, who is described as having ‘a high work rate and explicit pace’ was a regular for West Brom’s development squad side, but did not make a first team appearance for them prior to leaving the Hawthorns.
The youngster flew over to New Zealand earlier this year hoping to join up with Australian A-League side Wellington Phoenix, but the New Zealand club failed to file the necessary paperwork before the deadline and he returned to England.
Jones will wear the number 26 shirt for Vale and will add to the competition upfront.
