Jones: Two-goal debut was a dream come true
Forward Alex Jones has praised Vale’s “brilliant set-up” and says to score twice on his full debut was a “dream come true.”
The Birmingham loanee scored twice in Vale’s 3-1 win over Scunthorpe even though he was playing in an unfamiliar wide right position. He told the Sentinel:
I have only been here a few weeks but I feel I have improved in that short space of time…
“It was a dream come true to score two goals on my competitive league debut.
“Funnily enough I hadn’t played out there before, so I was a little bit sceptical at home thinking what it would be like. But the lads talked me through it and the gaffer and coaches gave me all the right information. They just told me to go out and play my game and I tried to do that.
“They have helped me improve no end. I have only been here a few weeks but I feel I have improved in that short space of time. They give you loads of information and are really professional.
“It’s a brilliant set up for me to come into and gain some experience and play games. The good thing is that I can still stay at home and it’s not a long commute for me to get into training.”
