Valiants announce new club secretary to replace departing Bill Lodey
Port Vale have announced that Colin Garlick will be the new club secretary from October.
It has been widely reported that long-serving secretary Bill Lodey will be retiring and Garlick will be his successor.
Garlick has been the secretary at Macclesfield Town and was also the secretary/chief executive at Rochdale.
I am delighted that Colin is joining the club, he brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge over many years…
Port Vale Chairman, Norman Smurthwaite told the official website: “I am delighted that Colin is joining the club, he brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge over many years and has an excellent reputation and many contacts within the game. Colin is known to me as he regularly attends all the Football League meetings and he represents his club very well. Colin is a very loyal, honest and conscientious individual with the utmost integrity and he has earned the respect that he has within the game. I very much look forward to working with him.”
Garlick added: “It is a privilege and an honour to work for a football club and I am extremely grateful and very thankful for the opportunities and experiences that I have had at both Macclesfield and Rochdale. The decision to bring my time at Rochdale to a close was a very difficult decision for me but having committed to that decision I could not have wished for a better opportunity that the one presented at Port Vale, with the chance to remain in football at the closest football league club to my home was just too good an offer to turn down.”
“I am very proud of the small part that I have played in the success that we achieved during my time at both Macclesfield and Rochdale. I do know and appreciate how lucky I am and I very much look forward to working with the Chairman, Bruno and all the staff on behalf of all the Port Vale supporters in the hope that I can be equally proud of the part that I play in the future success at Port Vale.”
