Port Vale keeper Sam Johnson must be feeling mixed emotions as he reaches the end of his loan spell with FC Halifax Town. Johnson has a Wembley date for the FA Cup Trophy final to look forward to but he also suffered the ignomy of a last-match relegation for his side as they slipped out of the National League.

Player of the year Nathan Smith missed the final game of the season for Torquay United. Halifax’s relegation was due in part to Torquay’s final-day defeat by Guiseley who won a thriller 4-3.

Ryan Lloyd played all 90 minutes as Chester FC finished their season with an impressive 4-2 win over Neil Aspin’s Gateshead side.
