Rob Page says JJ Hooper was excellent against Rochdale
Manager Rob Page was full of praise for his new-look striking partnership after Vale’s 4-1 win over Rochdale.
JJ Hooper and Theo Robinson both netted in the vuictory with Hooper also being named as match sponsors onevalefan.co.uk’s man of the match.
He’s not had the same impact when he’s started games but he did today…
Page told Valiant Player HD: “It was an opportunity for them two to go and show what they’re all about.
“JJ has shown glimpses when he’s come off the bench what he’s capable of doing. He’s not had the same impact when he’s started games but he did today.
“I thought he was excellent. Working with Theo as well, they’ve both got pace, we thought that was an area we might be able to exploit and hurt them.
“We matched them up in the middle of the park but still had the width out wide. When you’ve got pace in JJ and Theo up top you’re going to be a threat.
“We’re disappointed to lose AJ and Doddsy because they’ve brought the most goals this season but it was an opportunity for someone else to come in and have a go and they’ve certainly given us food for thought.”
