Rob Page praises owner and issues rallying call to fans

Manager Rob Page has praised “excellent” owner Norman Smurthwaite and called on fans to “rally together” and buy a season ticket.

Reports earlier this season suggested that the club could be subject to major playing budget cuts but Page has been encouraged by talks with the chairman.

Let’s all rally together, the chairman, myself, the players and supporters. Let’s have a push and get these season tickets sold and see what we can do in the summer to build on what we have done this year…

He told the media: “I am not asking for fortunes I am just saying, come on give us a budget that we can compete. What frightens me is if we get the budget that we are talking about then we will be struggling.

“I don’t think this football club deserves that, I think from a supporters’ point of view as well, come on let’s all rally together.

“That is my message to the chairman who has been excellent this week. We had a good conversation on Tuesday and I think we’ll come out and say that he is going to support me in the summer. We want the fans to buy into that as well and support us.

“Let’s all rally together, the chairman, myself, the players and supporters. Let’s have a push and get these season tickets sold and see what we can do in the summer to build on what we have done this year.”
