Page will only move for a proven striker on loan
Manager Rob Page says he will only move for a forward who can have an “impact” on the team rather than a promising youngster.
Vale’s goalscoring threat has been the subject of some debate this season and the loan window shuts on Thursday.
We need someone who is going to come in and have an impact on the team, not the squad at this stage of the season…
Page commented: “We have a squad of players here that have got us in this position. We need someone who is going to come in and have an impact on the team, not the squad at this stage of the season. But realistically, with the resources we have got, can we find someone like that?
“It is hard to find someone who is going to come in and guarantee to score ten goals before the end of the season.
“It is also about managing this group of players. There is not a lot wrong there because they have got us in this position. We are still three points off the play offs.
“It was a disappointing result and performance on Saturday but I refuse to be negative. I will always try to get the positives and the boys have react in a great manner over these last couple of days in training and we are looking forward to it.
“So, I don’t want to disturb the group too much. But if someone is available who can come in and have an impact on the team then of course we will consider it.”
