Will Timmy Mallett be at Vale Park to support Maidenhead’s cup bid?
Port Vale fans may not know much about their FA Cup opponents Maidenhead United – but one of their supporters is more well-known.
The non-league outfit boast TV presenter, broadcaster and artist Timmy Mallett as perhaps the club’s best-known fan. Mallett, famous for the TV show “Wacaday” (and a celebrity who certainly divides opinion) is also known to be a supporter of Oxford United.
I only live three miles from the ground and have been following Maidenhead for a few years. It is a proper football club…
He explained his allegiance to both clubs in 2011 to the Oxford Mail telling them: “I only live three miles from the ground and have been following Maidenhead for a few years. It is a proper football club.
“It’s definitely Oxford first and Maidenhead second but I only live a few miles away from Maidenhead’s ground and I might go there when Oxford are not playing at home, or there is a U’s away game that doesn’t fit in with my schedule.
“I go to more Oxford games than I do Maidenhead games – the last time I was at the Kassam Stadium was for the Port Vale game and I was in a box with Ant McPartland from Ant and Dec and singer Jonathan Wilkes.”
Mallett even sponsors a seat in Maidenhead’s new stand. True to form it reads:
