O’Connor close to comeback
Last season’s player of the year Michael O’Connor is close to returning to action for the Valiants.
O’Connor is in contention to play for Port Vale reserves in their game against neighbours Stoke City after making a rapid recovery from a knee injury.
Manager Rob Page told the Sentinel newspaper: “He’s doing really well. He has trained again and is there or thereabouts now pushing for a place. The real test now is when we play him in the reserves and whether he can get through that.
“You can train all you want but there is nothing like playing the games. Providing he can get through some minutes on the pitch, will get him back involved with us as soon as possible.”
