Hooper eyes first-team spot as Campion eyes temporary exit
JJ Hooper is one of a number of players in contention to replace Uche Ikpeazu but the list won’t include Achille Campion who is still on course to move on loan to Toruqay.
Hooper did his chances no harm with a goal in Vale’s 2-3 Reserves defeat to Burton. Hooper played the whole ninety minutes while fellow forward AJ Leitch-Smith played sixty minutes.
I think we’ve got enough talent here, it’s just about someone stepping up to the plate…
The Valiants will need to replace Uche Ikpeazu who is suspended after his red card against Burton and assistant Paul Bodin told the Sentinel: “If you look at who we have, there’s JJ who came on on Saturday, Ajay who’s not really been given a run in the team yet and Doddsy who was tremendous at the start of the season… I think we’ve got enough talent here, it’s just about someone stepping up to the plate.”
One striker who isn’t in immediate contention is Achille Campion who could join Torquay United on loan. Bodin added: “It’s still an ongoing thing, it’s not 100 per cent agreed but there’s a real possibility that he could join Torquay in the next couple of days.”
