Smurthwaite: Vale Park flats will save club £40,000 per year
Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite says the building of up to five apartments in the corner of the Lorne Street and Hamil Road stands will save the club up to £40,000 in accommodation costs each year.
In a post about the Vale Park floodlights on the OVF forum, Smurthwaite said: “That mast is being replaced and bought forward towards the pitch as l am applying for planning permission to build apartments in that corner.”
For a £150k outlay (mine) the club will save circa £40k pa in player accommodation costs…
Smurthwaite then confirmed to the Sentinel newspaper that he would be looking to build up to five flats and that they would be used to “reduce accommodation costs for players or staff.”
The Vale owner added that: “It is part of some improvements I am planning for the site which will also involve a new club concourse at the paddock end.”
In a further post on the OVF forum Smurthwaite added that “For a £150k outlay (mine) the club will save circa £40k pa in player accommodation costs.”
