Rob Page: Win ‘showed our character’
Port Vale manager Rob Page was delighted with his team’s character after they battled back from a goal behind to win at Fleetwood.
Page told the media: “The first half performance wasn’t acceptable, we have said that. I chose my words very carefully at half time and made it quite clear that it was a million miles off what we are all about.
It doesn’t surprise me because they are an honest group of lads, a great group…
“Thankfully we had a reaction in the second half. It showed our character to come from a goal behind and go on to get the win. That was pleasing and it doesn’t surprise me because they are an honest group of lads, a great group.
“Big Uche has been magnificent since he has been in the building. Everybody is talking about him, he is a fans’ favourite and rightly so.
“He is going to cause havoc this season for us. But sometimes it doesn’t quite go for you and it is about the squad.
“Fair play to him, the first person who went to congratulate Colin Daniel on his performance was Uche Ikpeazu. That says a lot about the lad.
“It is about the squad performance not just the 11 that are out there. I felt we had to make that change at half time if we were to get anything. I thought Colin Daniel was outstanding in the second half.”
