Port Vale 0-2 Millwall
The Valiants lost their unbeaten home record with a disappointing midweek defeat to Millwall on Tuesday evening.Rob Page named an unchanged side after the 3-2 win over Wigan at the weekend.
However, Millwall had much the better of the opening stages and Vale were grateful for three good moments of defending – Duffy and Purkiss both cleared off the line while Jak Alnwick also pulled off a fine save.
Vale managed to keep it goalless but were decided lacklustre in the first-half and Remie Streete was replaced by Ryan Inniss at the interval.
Millwall were rewarded for their efforts with a goal on the hour mark by Beevers. Vale had a chance when Ikpeazu crossed for Andoh and did better in the closing stages with chances for Grant, Foley and Ikpeazu.
But an impressive Millwall side were handed a penalty as Alnwick fouled a player in the box and Gregory netted from the spot. To be fair to the visitors, they probably deserved the win as Vale suffered a blip in form at Vale Park.
