Page proud of players and has special praise for Duffy
Rob Page said he was proud of his players’ performances against West Brom and reserved special praise for defender Richard Duffy.
Vale held Premier League West Brom to a goalless draw over 120 minutes but Duffy’s miss in the penalty shootout meant Albion won 5-3.
He has been outstanding in the opening games and was outstanding again here…
Page told the media: “I am proud of every single player who put the effort in for me to take a Premier League team to extra-time. To lose out on penalties is still a feeling of pride.”
On Duffy he added: “I have just said to him ‘Don’t you dare beat yourself up’. He has been outstanding in the opening games and was outstanding again here.
“He showed character to step up for the penalty. We had a conversation about who fancied taking the penalties and straight away he put his hand up.”
