Sentinel: Former winger Mark Marshall thanks Port Vale
The Sentinel has interviewed former Port Vale winger Mark Marshall and reports that he is set to sign for a new club.
Marshall was criticised by Chairman Norman Smurthwaite on this website’s forum with the Vale owner calling him “a silly boy” who was offered a “great contract.”
I wish the club all the best. For my part I would like to thank all the fans, the staff the media and the chairman…
Marshall told the newspaper: “I saw the remarks but I have not got a bad word to say about him or anyone at Port Vale. I am certainly not going to take it personally and I still respect him.
“I wish the club all the best. For my part I would like to thank all the fans, the staff the media and the chairman.
“It is a shame we didn’t come to an agreement but things happen in football and circumstances have dictated that I have moved on.
“He’s done well for the club. Vale were in administration and he has put his money in. For that alone everyone should be grateful.
“I am not going to take his one comment personally because deep down I know he is a nice guy. I have got to know him and he has been very good to me.”
