Port Vale 2-1 Notts County
Carl Dickinson and Byron Moore scored but keeper Chris Neal suffered an injury as Vale won their friendly match with Notts County.
The Valiants lined-up with a new-look strike force of Ikpeazu and Andoh while there were Vale Park debuts for Purkiss and Grant.
Vale started well and both Izpeazu and Andoh had goals chalked off for offside. Then the Valiants were rocked by an injury to Neal and Johnson was forced to take the stage. Vale had further chances for Moore and a couple of O’Connor set-pieces but the visitors also had chances in a fiercely contested first-half which finished goalless.
Vale again had early chances in the second period as Moore and Ikpeazu went close. However, it was the visitors who took the lead with a good finish on 50 minutes from experienced striker Jon Stead.
On the hour mark, Vale brought on Dodds and Leitch-Smith for Ikpeazu and Andoh. Soon afterwards, captain Carl Dickinon equalised with a rare headed goal from O’Connor’s cross.
Vale then completed the comeback on 70 minutes when Byron Moore tapped home after Dodds’ cross had been parried. The home side nearly stretched their lead through another O’Connor set piece and chances for Dodds and Daniel late on but despite those misses they will be happy with the 2-1 result.
