Shrewsbury Town fan THEFOZ is optimistic of how his side will fare in League One next season…
Best player last season?

Liam Lawrence was superb in the middle of the park last season and has put in several match winning performances. Young centre-back Connor Goldson has been a rock at the back and goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler has made some spectacular saves throughout the season.
Highlight(s) of last season on the pitch?
Andy Mangan equalising versus Chelsea in the League Cup was a brilliant moment. Losing 1- 0 away to Carlisle in the 90th minute and somehow turning it around to win 2-1 was another highlight. But the most obvious one would be just getting promotion away at Cheltenham.
Worst moment(s) of last season on the pitch?
Being 2-0 up versus Exeter at half time and then going on to lose 3-2 was a low point. Losing two key players in James Wesolowski and Nathaniel Knight-Percival to ACL injuries in January wasn’t nice to see either.
Sum up the last season in a sentence or two?
I expected promotion and we delivered it whilst playing some very entertaining football too…
We started the season with six players signed on but once Micky Mellon made some signings we looked to have a great squad. I expected promotion and we delivered it whilst playing some very entertaining football too.
Your view on off-field affairs last season?
We have just had a new Chief Executive in Matt Williams (ex-Blackpool secretary) and he has completely changed the club. We are now a club that is highly interactive with the community and fans and it is a very pleasant thing to see.
What are your expectations for next season?
Realistically, this team is more than capable of finishing top half in League One…
Ideally, I’d like to see us do a Chesterfield and get to the play-offs and I do believe with a bit of luck we could be there or thereabouts with this squad. Realistically, this team is more than capable of finishing top half in League One and I don’t expect to see us in a relegation fight. This squad is far superior to the one we had when we last went up (we finished 16th) so I think we can go better than that.
Where do the club need to strengthen on the pitch?
We have done most of our transfer business but we probably need another striker and winger to come in. Apart from that the squad seems very solid.
If you could take one Port Vale player for next season who would it be?
Mark Marshall, his pace would be a great asset to have and he would add a lot to our squad.
What do the club need to do off-field to improve?
Just continue the good work that they have done this year. They could maybe offer more ticket incentives to supporters to try and get more people in the ground and improve the match day experience.
If you were granted one wish for next season, what would it be?
Promotion to The Championship (we can dream).
