Rob Page hopeful of new signings by end of the week
Manager Rob Page says he is hopeful of more new signings for the club joining by the end of this week.
Page has made his first two additions to his squad by signing Remie Streete and Sam Kelly on Monday.
We want to bring quality into the team, we don’t just want to bring in signings for the sake of it…
He told the official Port Vale website’s Valiant Player service that: “We want to bring quality into the team, we don’t just want to bring in signings for the sake of it.
“We’ve got to make sure that they’re right to benefit the team and it’s a building process, it’s not about winning games tomorrow it’s about what we can build for the next three, four, five years and that’s what I’ve had in mind certainly with the two signings so far.
“Hopefully, there will be a couple more by the end of this week and the fans will see where I am trying to take the club.”
One potential addition to the Vale squad could be Ryan Inniss with the club keen to secure a long-term loan deal with Crystal Palace. Should Innis sign, Chairman Norman Smurthwaite has indicated that work on rebuilding the Vale defence would be complete.
The departure of Tom Pope and Ben Williamson also leaves Vale short of numbers upfront while Page would also need a new central midfielder should Michael O’Connor reject his contract offer.
