Reports: Bristol Rovers ‘in talks’ with Port Vale over Chris Lines
The Bristol Evening Post newspaper says that Bristol Rovers are “in talks with Port Vale over a deal to sign Chris Lines.”
The news will not come as a great surprise to Vale fans with Lines widely expected to leave the club over the summer.
The signing of Sam Foley plus new contracts for Michael O’Connor and Michael Brown would leave Lines as fourth choice central midfielder at Vale Park.
He enjoyed a successful loan spell with boyhood club Bristol Rovers and with family based in the Bristol area, Lines is expected to complete a move imminently. Earlier this summer, Rovers boss Darrell Clarke said Lines would be his “first choice” signing.
The midfielder does have a year remaining on his Vale contract but the “talks” will aim to resolve that to both club’s satisfaction.
