Port Vale FC have confirmed that key midfielder Michael O’Connor will stay with the club after verbally agreeing a new deal.
O’Connor was the club’s player of the season in 2014-15 and his signing was viewed as crucial by many supporters.
It is therefore a huge boost that the midfielder has opted to extend his stay.
I think the fact he is staying is a statement of intent from everyone at this football club…
Manager Rob Page told the official Port Vale website: “We’re ecstatic to have agreed terms with Michael O’Connor.
“It was clear for all to see last season that he was a key player for us and he was someone we were extremely keen to keep.
“I think the fact he is staying is a statement of intent from everyone at this football club.”
Vale have added Sam Foley to their midfield and with O’Connor committing himself, it seems likely that Chris Lines will now depart to join boyhood side Bristol Rovers.
