Bristol Rovers: Lines would be “first choice” summer signing
Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke has made it clear that he would like to sign Vale’s Chris Lines on a permanent deal.
Lines enjoyed a successful loan spell at his boyhood club which culminated in Rovers winning promotion back to the Football League.
Obviously Chris Lines would be my first choice, but everything has to be right with that deal…
Clarke says that he wants to add four more players to his squad and told the Bristol Evening Post that: “I’m after a couple of wide players and a central midfielder. Obviously Chris Lines would be my first choice, but everything has to be right with that deal.”
The sticking points with Lines moving to Rovers would appear to be a potential transfer fee (as the player is still contracted to the Valiants) and his salary but if Rovers can iron out those issues, it looks like a move could happen in the coming weeks.
The Bristol side want to get existing players to sign their contract offers first but Clarke added: “I imagine much of the business will be done in the back-end of June and the first couple of weeks in July.”
