Malcolm MacKenzie player profile
Born in Edinburgh, Malcolm MacKenzie was a Scottish teenager who joined Port Vale as an amateur before earning a professional contract.
At the time of his debut for the football club he was the club’s youngest-ever first-team player. McKenzie made his debut at the age of 15 years and 347 days against Newport County on 12 April 1966, a record which stood until Nelson Agho made an appearance in a Football League trophy game in 2018.
However, after that notable debut, MacKenzie made just one more appearance during the 1965-66 season. Unable to secure a regular first-team place he made no appearances in 1966-67 and just six during the 1967-68 season. He scored just one senior goal for Port Vale – in a win over Workington in September 1967.
He was released by the Valiants in May 1968.
