Lines could leave if O’Connor stays
Chairman Norman Smurthwaite has indicated that Chris Lines could leave if Bristol Rovers make an offer and Michael O’Connor agrees a new deal with the club.
Lines has spent a successful loan spell with hometown club Bristol Rovers and has indicated that he’d like to stay with the League Two club.
If we don’t re-sign Michael O’Connor then I doubt that we would release Chris Lines…
Smurthwaite told the Sentinel: “Bristol Rovers paid Chris’s full wages to take him last season which was strong money. Now it is up to their manager to decide whether he wants to keep him.
“Really whether Chris wants to stay there is academic until the Bristol Rovers manager says whether he wants to keep him.
“So, we are waiting to see if there is an appetite for that. But if we don’t re-sign Michael O’Connor then I doubt that we would release Chris Lines. He is a different player, but it is the same position.”
