A long-serving, locally born defender who mostly played for the club as an amateur, as he also worked as a teacher.
He spent fifteen years at the club as he progressed through the junior ranks and had a thirteen year period as a first-team player.
He helped the club to the Fourth Division title in 1958-59, shared a testimonial with Roy Sproson in 1964 (below) and retired through a foot injury in 1966.
