Roger Jones player profile
Roger Jones was a long-serving Port Vale left-half who joined the club from local non-league football.
He joined the Valiants in July 1923 and was mainly a bit part player for his first seasons at the club although he did score his first goal for the club in March 1928.
However, he forged a regular first-team place in the 1929-30 season during which Port Vale won the Third Division North title. Jones made 42 appearances that season.
He continued to be a regular pick until he was released at the end of the 1936-37 season. Ironically, that season had proved to be his most prolific as a Port Vale player with him netting nine times. His Port Vale career ended with him scoring nineteen goals from three hundred and forty six appearances.
