Time at club: 1906-1910 and 1913-1922
A locally-born player, Brough first joined as an amateur in 1906 before becoming professional in 1907. He scored a solitary goal in the 1906-7 season before the club was liquidated.
Brough had a spell at Stoke City before he returned to Vale in 1909. Again, he lasted just one season before moving on to Liverpool.
But Brough returned for a third spell in 1913 that lasted until he was called up in 1917. During that period he scored 35 goals in the 1913-14 season.
He then had a fourth spell with the Valiants from 1919 to 1922 when he retired after being “worn out” with football.
