O’Connor blasts play-offs ‘bottlers’
Midfielder Michael O’Connor has told the Sentinel that “every time we get near the play-offs we seem to bottle it”
A clearly frustrated O’Connor told the newspaper: “It happens every time we are close to the play-offs. We were three points away and had a chance to push up there, but we didn’t do it.
Every time we get near the play-offs we seem to bottle it, and we have done it again…
“It has happened a few times now. I don’t think we are good enough to be in the play offs to be honest.
“We won the last three, which were three great wins with three clean sheets, but every time we get near the play-offs we seem to bottle it, and we have done it again.”
However, O’Connor remains impressed with the work of Rob Page adding: “I am not singling anyone out. For this club to be in and around where we are now at this stage of the season is a big improvement since Pagey took over.
“When he came in we were second bottom and looking down. He has steadied the ship and hopefully next year he can put a promotion-winning team together. But that doesn’t mean we are not still going for the play-offs this year.”
