Coach Mark Grew says the club must secure it’s place in League One before contracts can be discussed.
The majority of Vale’s squad will be out of contract in the summer and many fans would like to see players such as Michael O’Connor and Mark Marshall offered deals early so that they are not snapped up by rival clubs.
But Grew told the Sentinel: “Our first aim is to make sure we are in this league next year. That is the first thing before we talk about contracts.
“Until we know we are mathematically safe, then how can we budget for what we are going to do?
“But once we get to 53 points that is a different scenario. We would know we are going to be in the league, so can plan for next year.”
