Media claim Streete was scouted player
The Newcastle Chronicle newspaper says that Newcastle’s Remie Streete was the player that was scouted by chairman Norman Smurthwaite on Monday evening.
Smurthwaite tweeted that:
Will be scout on Mon night for 1st time no posh seats better bring a flask hopefully bring the 1st new signing part of the new focus & plan
— Norman Smurthwaite (@smurfpvfc) September 20, 2014
According to the Chronicle “Page took his chairman Norman Smurthwaite to see Streete in action this week and the pair were impressed by his two-goal display and all-round solid defensive showing.”
19 year-old central defender Streete scored twice in a reserve game against Arsenal.
However, although Vale are in pole position to take the player on loan, the Chronicle also points out that a move could be delayed after Streete was called into the Newcastle squad for the game against Crystal Palace. Although Streete did not make the match squad, the club may want to keep the youngster as a back-up.
