Port Vale paid out £66,812 in agent fees last season, up just £9,000 from the previous season’s figures.
Considering Vale had moved up a division and brought in several additions to their squad, many fans will feel that the small increase was worth it after the club enjoyed a strong return to League One football.
Vale’s spending was in the middle of the League One agent fee spending putting them in eleventh place overall. Wolves led the way with £571,00 followed by spendthrift Bristol City (£339,000) and Brentford (£253,000). Local rivals Crewe spent no money on agent fees during a season in which they narrowly avoided relegation.
Overall, this is the second successive season that spending on agents has fallen in the Football League.
