New skipper wants to ‘hug’ Micky Adams
Carl Dickinson has reacted with pride and delight after being named as the Port Vale captain although one of his comments has already been seized upon by his teammates.
After being announced as the club captain for this season, Dickinson told the press: “I have always wanted to lead my team out. To be able to do it now means a lot to me.
“I can’t wait. My family will be here and hopefully my mum and dad will be looking down as well and will be really proud.

“It means everything to me. Leading my team out is something I have wanted to do since I started in football.
“When the manager told me, I wanted to give him a massive hug, but I would have got no end of stick for that. I will probably get no end of stick for saying it as well!”
