Former Valiant makes Tranmere switch
Former Vale defender Clayton McDonald has agreed a deal with Tranmere Rovers that will see him stay on a non-contract basis.
McDonald was released by Grimsby Town in the summer and has impressed while on trial at Prenton Park.
The tall defender’s spell at Vale Park was hit by a well-publicised legal trial but McDonald played his part in the first-half of Vale’s successful 2012-13 promotion season.
Clayton isn’t quite there with his fitness yet but I’ve been encouraged by what I’ve seen in training…
Tranmere boss Rob Edwards told the club’s official website: “Clayton isn’t quite there with his fitness yet but I’ve been encouraged by what I’ve seen in training and the pre-season games and agreeing non-contract terms with him means he can be included in our squad,”
Ironically, Vale have signed former Tranmere midfielder Steve Jennings this summer.
