Test Match Special discusses Port Vale live on air
Port Vale FC have had many proud moments in the club’s long history – but surely a mention on national institution Test Match Special is up there with the best of them.
What is Test Match Special?
Test Match Special (or TMS for short) is a BBC radio cricket commentary programme which is famed (and beloved) for its ability to wander off topic. It was launched in 1957 and has been on air ever since.
Midway through the first day of the Test against India in 2014, summariser Phil Tufnell began testing commentator Jonathan Agnew’s footballing knowledge.
Tufnell wanted to know which club wasn’t named after a town or city and his Tweeter feed was soon flooded with replies. Soon enough, Port Vale FC was being discussed live on air…
Here are a selection:
Not often they talk about Port Vale for 10 minutes on TMS. Bit of a lull in play admittedly #pvfc #engvindia #tms
