Rumour: Vale eye Preston swop deal?
The Valiants are reportedly interested in Preston’s Paul Huntington and the defender may move to Vale as part of a deal that will see Jordan Hugill move to Deepdale.
Editorial Note
This feature contains rumour and speculation. All of these rumours should be treated as unconfirmed gossip until any move is officially announced by the club itself. We make no apologies for publishing some rumour and gossip (after all, even the state broadcaster, the BBC, publishes a daily Football Gossip column) but we’d just like to reiterate that this feature should not be treated too seriously.
Striker Hugill is widely expected to join Preston and as he is under 24, Vale would be eligible for compensation. According to the Sentinel newspaper, Vale have enquired about the possibility of making Huntington, 26, part of any deal.
However, any move would depend on whether Huntington, who is still under contract, wants to leave Deepdale. If he does move, the defender will know one Vale player well – the Valiants signed fellow central defender Chris Robertson from Preston last season.
