Hugill completes Preston move
Preston sign Jordan Hugill: North End have confirmed the signing of Port Vale striker Jordan Hugill for an undisclosed compensation fee.
Forward Jordan Hugill has signed a two-year deal after rejecting Port Vale’s contract offer.
However, as the player is under 24, North End have had to pay compensation which is due to be set by a tribunal.
Port Vale were rumoured to be targeting defender Paul Huntington as part of the deal but that move now appears to be unlikely.
The loss of Hugill will be a bitter disappointment to the Valiants with many fans expecting more loyalty from a player that was signed from non-league and whom Vale developed into a promising, albeit raw, League One prospect.
Former barman Hugill was spotted by Vale coach George Foster and became part of a ten player development squad put together by owner Paul Wildes. The powerful youngster broke into the Valiants first-team in October after an impressive loan spell with Gateshead. His Valiants career tally stood at five goals from twenty appearances.
