Does Daniel deal show scout’s clout?
Chief scout George Foster may be having an increasing influence on Port Vale’s signing policy after Foster tip Colin Daniel joined Jordan Hugill at the club.
Foster recommended Hugill to the club last summer and now Daniel appears to be another recommendation from the 57 year-old. Foster is well-acquainted with Daniel’s former club Mansfield having spent ten years playing for the club in addition to a four year managerial spell.
Foster also has links with the Glenn Hoddle Academy, having been a scout for the organisation, and this undoubtedly led to Foster recommending striker Jordan Hugill to the club. In total, three graduates of the Hoddle Academy – Hugill, Ben Williamson and Ryan Burge have made senior appearances for the club.
Manager Micky Adams told the press after Hugill’s first senior goal that “George Foster should take a lot of credit for this and our scout in the north eastern region because they have unearthed him. He is still raw in a lot of the things he does, but the potential is there and he can achieve what he wants. We will help and guide him as much as we can.”
If Daniel can provide as much as an impact as Hugill did, then fans will undoubtedly be hoping for more inspired suggestions from Foster.
