Editorial Note
This feature contains rumour and speculation. All of these rumours should be treated as unconfirmed gossip until any move is officially announced by the club itself. We make no apologies for publishing some rumour and gossip (after all, even the state broadcaster, the BBC, publishes a daily Football Gossip column) but we’d just like to reiterate that this feature should not be treated too seriously.
Loft is one of fourteen out of contract players at the club and it has long been rumoured that the Kent-based, former Brighton player would prefer a move South.
Loft made national headlines at the end of this season when a training ground “altercation” with Dan Jones left the Vale skipper with a broken jaw, cheekbone and nose.
Loft was named as the joint-winner of the OVF player of the season this year after an impressive League One campaign. Fellow winner Chris Lines has been linked with a move to Bradford.
It can be argued that uncertainty over the future of manager Micky Adams has contributed to these rumours with player reluctant to commit themselves until the manager’s future has been clarified.
